A Visit to Stevens Elementary

news/Caroll-class-1.jpgThis week I had a special treat; one of our Board Members, Principal EL from Philadelphia, came to visit us.  Together we went to see First Move in a classroom at Stevens Elementary.  Mr. Carroll is a wonderful teacher and his class was so well behaved!  We were very impressed. I heard they were smart kids and it is true.   I taught the class the APE Dance so they could move to the music at the beginning of the DVD.  (If you want to learn the APE Dance, send me an email, )  After that, they showed us some of the things they already know about chess and then moved on to advanced Knight strategies!  Thank you to Mr. Carroll and his class for showing us the power of using chess as a learning tool in the classroom!

Assistant Principal

This is our second year of chess at OES and I am amazed at how much our 3rd grade class remembers about chess from the previous year--this tells me that they are playing chess outside of school-Yeah
