First Move Art Contest Winner

Congratulations to second grader Olivia Gullo of Notre Dame Academy in New York. Olivia is the winner of last month's First Move art contest for her piece "New York Loves Chess."
A congratulations also goes to the second grade students at Price Elementary in Louisville, Kentucky for incorporating their Visual Arts Concepts into the First Move program to reinforce learning. Elizabeth Ward the First Move Coordinator and Visual Art Coordinator at Price Elementary wrote "Our school just becomae a visual art magnet...it is my job to integrate visual art concepts into the content to reinforce learning. This art contest provided that opportunity." Ward went on to say "students selected their favorite chess piece...they used their knowledge of geometric shapes to break down each chess peice and draw them accordingly." Below is an example of one of the projects. To read the full letter click here.
